
Pinellas County has more than 80,000 residents aged 65+ living alone and is home to over 35,000 men and women older than 85. It is among the highest-ranking counties in the state for residents in that age group. Our mission is to help older adults, homebound and persons with disabilities to remain independent in their own homes through the efforts of volunteer caregivers. Volunteer opportunities within FIAUP are varied.
Volunteer opportunities include, but are not limited to:
- Transportation to medical appointments
- Grocery shopping and other personal trips
- Grocery shopping from a list
- In-home friendly visits
- Light yard work
- Light housekeeping
- Respite care for primary caregivers
- Strong for Life Exercise leaders
- Friendship telephone calls
- Group yard work, house cleaning and other around-the-house efforts
- Fund raising participation
- Serve as a member on our Board of Directors
